course information
It is important to note that the courses listed on the "course page" of this website are the only courses coordinated and run by the SI Network. Information on each course can be found by clicking on the course title in the course schedule section. It is important to note that if the website indicates "waiting list" the course is fully booked and a waiting list has been opened. Persons whose applications are received after this will not be given places but will be waitlisted and their names put down for the next available course.

Information on the venue of each course can be found by going to the "Course Schedule" and clicking on the location of the course. This will bring you to a page containing the address and post code, phone number if available, and the email address of the local organiser. There is also a link to a google map of the area.

Whilst some courses are restricted to Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists, other courses are open to all AHPs, Teachers, Nurses, Carers and Parents. Please check your eligibility for the course you wish to attend.

We will endeavour to alert our members first to any new courses - frequently by email. It is to your advantage as a member, therefore, to make sure that you have updated the information held by the SI Network. You can do this yourself by logging on to the members section and clicking on the "personal details" icon on the right of the page.

All those attending our accredited modular courses, and wishing to be accredited with Cardiff University, SI 1 - Theory and Intervention, SI 2 - Advanced Clinical Reasoning and Analysis, SI 3 - SIPT Administration and Interpretation and SI 4 Advanced Treatment course, must complete and send in the Cardiff University Registration form at the time of booking. We aim to close our courses four weeks before the lecture date and will not take any late registrations after this time. Refunds are negotiable with the Treasurer up to four weeks prior to the course, if there is a waiting list.

The Registration form for Cardiff University must be received 6 weeks before course start date. The Student handbook will then be sent out by e-mail by Cardiff University (Please be sure to inform if your e-mail has changed). The Cardiff University Registry will send a letter by post with your student number and user-name and a second letter with your password which you then have to action online within 2 weeks to change your status from 'pending' to 'registered'.  Please contact Cardiff University if your handbook or letter from the Registry Office is not received within 2 weeks of the course.

Courses recommended for teachers and nurses are the Introductory Days, Understanding Sensory Processing in Everyday Life, The Alert Program for Sensory Regulation, Henry OT series, ASD problem Identification and Intervention.

As we are an educational body, all those attending our courses must be active members of the Network. Please ensure that you are registered with us and that your membership fee of £25 [or €35] is paid before you apply to attend a course. This fee may be added to the course fee and noted on the application form.

M level credits awarded by Cardiff University can normally be taken to another university and APEL'd in place of the equivalent credits for a Master's degree at that university. However, each university has their own rules so you need to apply to that university to hear whether they will accept the credits. Most credits have a life time of 5 years, but again each university has their own rules.

How far apart should I do the courses?

It is now possible to complete the 4 modules within an 18 month period. University guidelines suggest completion of the programme within a 5 year period.

Do I have to do the courses in order?

SI 1 is a pre-requisite to II, III and IV. It is recommended, but not essential, that courses are completed in order. SI:III:SIPT certification may not be relevant to therapists working with Adult populations.

Do I have to complete the assignment?

Completion of the assignment provides evidence of consolidation of learning. If you do not wish to complete the assignment please apply for a non-accredited place.

What if I am unable to complete the assignment at the time of the course?

Participants are expected to complete assignments at the time of the course. You may wish to defer your course until you are able to complete the assignment. It is easier to do the assignment when the information is fresh. It is understood that this may not always be possible. If you are unable to complete the assignment at the time of the course you may apply to complete the assigment upto 2 years after the competion of the module at an additional cost of £175
