Sensory Integration Global Network (SIGN)

The Network is delighted to be associated with the Sensory Integration Global Network SIGN created to promote the work of Dr Ayres internationally.   

SIGN is made up of a group of volunteers who are dedicated to protecting the integrity and promoting the work of Dr. A. Jean Ayres in Sensory Integration Theory and Intervention. The originators of this group include former co-workers and students of Dr. Ayres, who are now among the leading experts in the field, and occupational therapists committed to providing occupational therapy services from a sensory integrative perspective in a manner consistent with Ayres’ core principles.

"In addition to the support of the Successor Trustee of Dr. Ayres’ estate, Brian Erwin, her nephew, who now holds the trademark term Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI), participation at the ground level has also included businesses who manufacture tests and equipment related to sensory integration. “ 

“Ayres Sensory Integration® includes the theory, assessment, patterns of sensory integration and praxis dysfunction and intervention concepts, principles and techniques articulated by Dr Ayres and applied by therapists trained in this approach worldwide. A summary of these main components of Ayres Sensory Integration® is presented on the SIGN website for the purpose of protecting and promoting Dr. Ayres’ body of work and to assist in differentiation of this approach from others that might share some similar terminology or techniques. As a registered trademarked, Ayres Sensory Integration® is applied only on applications that reflect the following distinctions.” 

The Network is looking forward to opportunities to link further with SIGN and the Directors have started to regularly contribute UK and Ireland news snippets to the SIGN Yahoo Group.
