On 26th March 2018 we welcomed a large group of students from all over the world to Module 2 Online: Clinical Reasoning in Sensory Integration. We are now 6 weeks into the course and are delighted to report that the module has got off to a flying start, with high levels of student engagement on the forums and a real sense of online community beginning to emerge.
Dr Joanne Fallon, Lead e-mentor for this module, is working with a group of highly experienced, advanced practitioner e-mentors to ensure that students from all professional backgrounds and areas of clinical practice are welcomed and well supported in their learning as they undertake this course.
Joanne reports “It is very exciting to be part of this incredibly strong and vibrant online education team, with experienced clinicians and academics from all three key therapy professions and the diverse specialties across the lifespan, working together to bring world-class, Sensory Integration education to therapists across the globe.”
She goes on to say “Our Online Modular Pathway really is unique in that it offers students the only University accredited post-graduate training programme, leading to a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or Master of Science Degree (MSc) in Sensory Integration and it ensures the learning experience offers real value for all, whether you are coming to the course from an occupational therapy, physiotherapy or speech and language therapy perspective, because of the broad, interdisciplinary mix of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists and clinicians and academics we have within our education team.”
She tells us “Because of the partnership the Sensory Integration Network has with Ulster University we are able to offer our students:
- Access to 24-hour online forum groups with dedicated e-mentor support
- Comprehensive library facilities with librarian support and access to online journals, electronic databases, e-books and other interactive e-resources
- Excellent student support services for those with additional study needs
All of these add together to give our students an incredibly rich, learning experience that is unique to the SI Network.”
